limiting the deductions there have been proposals from governor romney during the presidential campaign, and from other republicans, when you talk about those limitations on deductions, do you include the charitable deduction and the home mortgage deduction? >> i think you're right to point out the essential problem in this, which is, if you try to limit deductions with a $25,000 cap, what you do is you end up hitting millions and millions -- actually 17 million americans -- a huge part of the revenue comes from that basic fact, which we're not prepared to do -- it completely eliminates the incentives for wealthy americans to give to charities and if you protect the charitable contributions you reduce. so, those proposals, they may be worth considering, but if you design them carefully, they don't raise revenue you need to get us back to a fiscally responsible position. >> are you saying that the charitable deductions should be off the table? >> we propose a percentage limit on the value of all of the deductions and inclusions for 2% of americans. what that does is, it preserves a very

they did not get a president romney. they still have a president obama. but now they're at the president obama white house almost every week meeting with president obama. and i understand that he wants them to help him get his general accomplished. i understand that. what about the other direction? the fact that they're getting all this face time with the president. does that mean they're getting their agenda, too? well, you can judge for yourself in small ways. we're told that a senator elizabeth warren of massachusetts is about to get a seat on the senate banking committee. it's not official yet but one aide says it is, quote, likely. this of course has the banking world, the financial industry in a tissy. this is not what they wanted. they did not want a new sheriff on wall street. one democratic aide describing them as, quote, going nuts over this. but going nuts does not necessarily mean you get what you want. especially not when the horse you bet on so boldly lost so badly. it also means that working goat some things doesn't mean you have to work together on eve

did win the election, the president, and this is of course, dan, not exactly how mitt romney was hoping to walk through the doors of the white house, is it? >> reporter: no, not at all. i mean, i think he would have loved to have had it be the other way around where he is the president inviting former president obama to come here. no, the two will be sitting down here at the white house tomorrow having a private lunch in the private dining room. there will be no press coverage but we hope that perhaps there will abphoto. remember back on election night the president talked about looking forward to sitting down with governor romney to talk about ways to move the country forward. this after a very tough campaign where either during the debates or out there on the campaign trail each of the candidates have had very strong words about each other's vision for the country. the president was asked about when he would be meeting with mitt romney during his news conference following the election. he said that he looked forward to sitting down and meeting with him, said there are some
